What is Privacy Mode?

Privacy Mode brings practical privacy protection to OneKey. When enabled, there will be no direct on-chain link between your source and destination wallets, much like the Privacy Mode in a browser—one click to activate, leaving no trace.

No need to hold specific tokens, no registration required, and no change to your operating habits. Just switch it on and trade as usual.

How It Works

  1. Enable Privacy Mode: Turn on the privacy switch in the OneKey application.

  2. Select Route: Choose the source chain, destination chain, and corresponding tokens. You can select same-chain same-token transfers (e.g., USDC on Arbitrum to USDC on Arbitrum) or cross-chain bridging; the operation is exactly the same as a normal swap.

  3. Enter Receiving Address: This is the crucial step. Please use a wallet different from the sending address; this is the core of Privacy Mode—ensuring the two wallets have no direct on-chain association.

  4. Confirm Transaction: Funds will be transferred via a specific route, ensuring the sending and receiving wallets remain unlinked on-chain.

At the underlying level, the transaction is routed through regulated centralized exchanges and privacy networks (such as Zcash, XMR, etc.) to break the on-chain link between the two wallets, while adhering to applicable compliance requirements. This is not on-chain mixing—it is a practical privacy solution achieved by leveraging mature infrastructure that already handles millions of transactions daily.

Privacy transactions involve multiple steps and take longer than standard transactions. Most transactions are completed within 10 to 30 minutes; this may take longer if the BTC network is involved.

What is the difference between Privacy Mode and a mixer?

They are different. Privacy Mode does not use on-chain mixing pools; instead, it routes transactions through channels like centralized exchanges to unlink wallets. The exchanges involved in the routing are regulated and screen funds for illicit activity, so there is no risk of your funds being mixed with flagged wallets.

Is KYC required?

KYC is generally not required. However, if a transaction is flagged as suspicious by the compliance layer, KYC verification may be requested. If this occurs, please contact the OneKey Support Team with the transaction hash for assistance.

What is the level of privacy protection?

Privacy Mode offers utility-level privacy. Your sending and receiving wallets have no direct on-chain link. The regulated exchanges participating in the routing can view the transaction records, similar to how your bank can view your transfer records, but the public cannot see them. This is not complete anonymity, but it is sufficient for most users who do not want every transfer to be publicly traceable.

How long does a private swap take?

The time taken depends on the chains and tokens involved, similar to a regular OneKey Swap. Most transactions are completed within 10 to 30 minutes. If the BTC network is involved, it may take longer.

Are there minimum or maximum amount limits?

Some routes have minimum/maximum amount limits. The application will prompt you if the amount you enter is outside the supported range.

What if my transaction gets stuck?

If the transaction takes longer than expected (e.g., more than 1 hour), please provide your transaction hash and contact the OneKey Support Team.
