Before you start, make sure you are using the backup that belongs to the original wallet. After the recovery is complete, check whether the wallet address matches the one you used before, and only then continue with transfers or other asset operations.
Method 1: Restore with a mnemonic backup
This method is suitable for users who still have the mnemonic backup of their original hardware wallet.
Steps
Find the mnemonic backup of your original hardware wallet. Make sure this mnemonic backup belongs to the wallet you want to restore, and that all words are complete and readable.
During the OneKey Pro 2 onboarding process, select the option to restore wallet then import recovery phrase.
Enter the original mnemonic in the correct order. You must use the original mnemonic when restoring the wallet. Each word and its order must be correct. Any incorrect word or word order may restore a different wallet address.
Follow the on-device instructions to complete the remaining setup. After entering the mnemonic and completing the setup, OneKey Pro 2 will restore the corresponding wallet.
Method 2: Restore quickly with OneKey Lite or OneKey SeedCard
This method is suitable for users who have previously backed up their wallet with OneKey Lite or OneKey SeedCard.
If you previously used OneKey Pro and backed up your wallet with OneKey Lite, you may use the corresponding card to restore the wallet according to the recovery methods currently supported by OneKey Pro 2.
If you have an additional OneKey SeedCard backup, you may also restore the wallet using the supported method on OneKey Pro 2.
Steps
Confirm that you have already backed up the wallet with OneKey Lite or OneKey SeedCard. If you are not sure whether the card contains the backup of the original wallet, verify the backup source and the corresponding wallet first. Do not overwrite or use another backup by mistake.
During the OneKey Pro 2 onboarding process, follow the exact option name “Restore Wallet” “OneKey SeedCard”.
After the import is complete, continue following the OneKey Pro 2 instructions to finish the remaining setup.
Important reminders after recovery
1. Verify that the wallet address is restored correctly
After recovery, check your original wallet address on OneKey Pro 2 or in OneKey App, and confirm that it matches the address you used before.
Before confirming that the address is correct, do not rush to make transfers or perform other asset operations. If the restored wallet address is different from the original address, stop and check whether the mnemonic, Passphrase, or backup method is correct.
2. If you used a hidden wallet, enter the same Passphrase again
If your original wallet used a Passphrase to create a hidden wallet, restoring the mnemonic alone is not enough to restore that hidden wallet.
You must enter the exact same Passphrase as before to access the corresponding hidden wallet, and then confirm that the generated wallet address matches the original one. Passphrase input is sensitive to the exact characters used, and any difference may generate a different wallet.
3. Do not import a hot wallet backup into a hardware wallet as a security upgrade
If the original mnemonic was generated or used in a hot wallet App, it is not recommended to directly import that mnemonic into a hardware wallet and assume it has become more secure.
The security of a mnemonic depends on how it was generated, whether it has ever been exposed, and how it has been stored afterward. Importing a hot wallet mnemonic that has already been used in an online environment into a hardware wallet cannot remove the security risks that may have existed before, and it does not automatically improve the security of that mnemonic itself.
If you want to use a hardware wallet for better key isolation, it is recommended to generate a new mnemonic directly on OneKey Pro 2 and use it specifically for your hardware wallet.
