Most of the time when using the Lightning Network, you might not have a direct channel established with the recipient. In this case, the network searches for a payment path between you and your destination. When transactions pass through these nodes, relevant node fees are incurred.
OneKey App's Fee Policy
The routing fee for Lightning Network nodes provided by the OneKey App is 0.004000 sat/sat (4000 ppm).
What is the Base Fee?
The base fee is a fixed fee that nodes charge for each transaction invoice, regardless of the transaction amount. Each transaction forwarding incurs computational and storage costs for the nodes, and the base fee is meant to compensate for these costs. You can check the base fee in the node data on 1ML. For example, you can see that the base fee for OneKey's node is 0.
What is the Fee Rate?
The fee rate is the proportionate fee charged for each satoshi of the transaction invoice. The fee rate exists to compensate the liquidity that the nodes commit to the channel. You can also check the fee rate per satoshi in the node data on 1ML. For instance, you can see that OKX’s node fee rate is 0.000500 sat/sat (500 ppm), which means a fee of 0.000500 satoshis is charged per satoshi transacted.
Example
You can use the OneKey App on the Lightning Network to transfer funds to a specific project. However, there is no payment channel open between the OneKey node and this project. When you issue the payment invoice, it might need to be rerouted through the OKX node. Since the OKX node is not free, a small fee (base fee + fee rate) will be incurred.
