Energy and Bandwidth of TRON

What are the Energy and Bandwidth of the Tron Blockchain?

TRON is a blockchain platform that supports decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts. Transfers and smart contract interactions on TRON primarily use two resources: Bandwidth and Energy.

Obtaining and using these resources can reduce the network fees paid directly in TRX. Actual costs depend on the transaction type, available resources, and current network parameters. This does not mean that all transactions are free.

What Are Bandwidth and Energy?

Resource

Purpose

Common Use Cases

Bandwidth

Covers the resource cost of recording transaction data on-chain. Larger transactions generally consume more Bandwidth.

TRX transfers, USDT transfers, and smart contract interactions

Energy

Covers the computational resources required to execute smart contracts.

TRC-20 USDT transfers, swaps, and other smart contract interactions

Standard TRX transfers primarily consume Bandwidth. TRC-20 USDT transfers involve smart contract execution and therefore consume both Bandwidth and Energy.

Free Bandwidth and Resource Recovery

Under the current TRON network parameters, each activated account has a free Bandwidth allowance of 600. Bandwidth usage recovers over a rolling 24-hour period, rather than resetting at midnight each day. The allowance may change if network parameters are updated.

TRON does not provide an equivalent free Energy allowance. You can obtain Energy by staking TRX or receiving delegated resources.

TRON Transfer Resource Subsidies and Energy Rental in the OneKey App

For supported TRON transfers, eligible users can follow the prompts in the OneKey App to claim a resource subsidy. Eligibility, claim limits, resource amounts, and validity periods are subject to the rules displayed in the app at the time of the transfer. The subsidy may not cover all transaction costs. Any costs exceeding its amount or coverage remain the user’s responsibility.

When Energy is insufficient, you can also use the Energy rental service available in the app. In supported scenarios, rental fees can be paid in USDT. Energy rental is a paid service; paying with USDT does not mean the transaction has no cost. Please check the current quote and fee coverage shown in the app.

When available Bandwidth or Energy is insufficient, the network may burn TRX from your account to cover the corresponding fees. If neither your resources nor the TRX available to pay fees are sufficient, the transaction may fail. Before sending, review the estimated fees on the app’s confirmation screen. Final resource consumption and fees are determined by the on-chain execution result.
