Verify your OneKey device firmware in OneKey App

This article provides you with a quick and convenient way to verify that the firmware installed on your purchased OneKey hardware wallet is the official firmware released by the OneKey team.

If you want to self-validate the OneKey firmware, you can refer to this article 👉  "Open source code verification for firmware installed on OneKey hardware wallet devices".

Part 1: If You Have Already Set Up Your Hardware Wallet

If you have already completed the hardware wallet setup and connected it to the OneKey App for regular use, you can still initiate firmware verification through the OneKey App client by following these steps:

  1. In the OneKey App client, choose the hardware wallet device you want to verify.
  2. Ensure that your device is successfully connected to the OneKey App via USB or Bluetooth.
  3. Click "Edit", then select "Device authentication".app-v5-device-auth-1.png
  4. If your hardware wallet is locked, enter your PIN on the device to unlock it.
  5. The OneKey App will initiate the verification process to check the firmware on your device.
  6. If the OneKey App displays "Verification successful", it means that the firmware is consistent with the open-source firmware from OneKey and has not been tampered with maliciously.app-v5-device-auth-2.png

Part 2: If You're New to OneKey

If you have just completed the setup of your hardware wallet and have not yet connected it to the OneKey App for formal use, please follow these steps:

  1. On the hardware wallet, navigate to "Settings" - "Security" - "Device Authentication".
  2. Here, you will see the version information for all firmware, including system firmware, Bluetooth firmware, and Bootloader.
  3. Click the "Verify Now" button. The hardware wallet will prompt you to download and install the OneKey App on your computer or mobile device.
  4. Connect the device to your computer or phone and launch the OneKey App client to create a wallet. The device will automatically perform a firmware verification.
